PRESS RELEASE

REGATTA 2000

Llandaff Rowing Club’s Regatta 2000 is the largest rowing event in Wales. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, 8 & 9 July 2000.

Over 40 competing clubs from all over the United Kingdom will take place in this year’s event.

Saturday’s race is a 1000m course and Sunday’s is a 500m sprint course. On Saturday Mr. Alan Whitwell World Champion Rower and Silver Medallist will be present and on Sunday, Mr. Rhodri Morgan and his wife, Mrs. Julie Morgan, will present the prizes and tankards following the days racing.

The event is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the spectacle of competitive rowing in the beautiful riverside setting of Llandaff.

The racing starts at 10.00 am each day and finishes around 4.30 p.m. The Club will be serving hot and cold refreshments and food, with full bar facilities throughout the day. People are also welcome to bring their own picnics.

Admission is free, and there are many club members who will be happy to provide information on race details and the sport of rowing.

It’s a great day out for all the family.
